Earlier this week i stopped by the GHD booth at Lane Crawford for my GHD experience (a.k.a. the closest thing i'll get to feeling anywhere near royalty slash the Mia Thermopolis makeover scene circa 2001's The Princess Diaries). Long story short, Robert and Wilson (/hair wizards) gave me loose, non-poodle-esque curles that i flaunted and refused to wash out until the next day. Another long story short, my phone took a dive in a toilet yesterday so i can't show you the results (and selfies i took with Robert and Wilson). This is why i decided to replicate the experience at home with my GHD eclipse, and though i can assure you Robert and Wilson did the instrument way more justice, the fact that even I (who have had my fair share of hair tool burns) could pull a decent 'do in less than 15 minutes shows that this little guy can do its job.
Obligatory before photo: thick hair in dire need of a trim and deep conditioning, pre-heat protectant and post-hair brushing. I have very thick hair, which doesn't enjoy holding a curl, yet when it does i end up looking a lot like Diana Ross in a bad way, because I am not Diana Ross.
After: Curls that are not too tight, too big, and actually kind of like staying in my hair without excessive hairspray overdose. Closer to what the guys at GHD did than i would've thought. I brushed through them with a paddle brush to mess it up a little and soften the look.
Needless to say, my hands are burn-less and my hair afro-less. If you'd like to enjoy a free styling session, upload a #catwalkmeGHD selfie on Facebook or Instagram and you'll be entered for a chance to win a photoshoot worth $30,000 along with it. Check out the GHD booths at Times Square/ Canton Road or click here if you're interested to knowing more.
P.S. Let me know if you find any poses that do not involve hand-to-head contact because apparently i do not know of them.
